APER – Camping Hammock-Tent Hybrid (Updated Model with Reinforced Fabric)

The APER model is a multifunctional hammock designed for outdoor adventures. It features an integrated zippered mosquito net and has been upgraded with a durable 70D ripstop waterproof bottom, rated to withstand up to 4000 mm water column. This reinforced waterproof base allows the hammock to be pitched directly on the ground and used as a bivy or minimalist tent — ideal for bad weather or when suitable trees for hanging are unavailable. The interior fabric is soft satin for enhanced comfort.

The asymmetrical design allows for a diagonal sleeping position, offering a flatter and more ergonomic lay for better sleep in the wild.

A hammock that doubles as a tent.

Ground setup: To convert the hammock into a ground tent, you’ll need two anchor points or supports at heights of 80 cm (head end) and 40 cm (foot end). These heights allow you to tension the ridgeline, lift the sidewalls, and raise the mosquito net. You can use trekking poles, a paddle, a bicycle, shrubs, or small trees as supports — whatever is available in your environment.

Ridgeline — the ridgeline strap

The ridgeline is essential for stable hammock fabric sag. To sleep comfortably in a hammock, you need to sleep diagonally. To sleep diagonally, the fabric must sag correctly. Otherwise, you’ll sleep like a banana. The ridgeline strap maintains the proper sag. You don’t need to find a 30-degree angle when hanging the hammock — tension it tight like a string — the sag is maintained by the ridgeline.

Mosquito net for the hammock

The GT hammock is equipped with a zipper mosquito net and two sliders with bright interior pullers for easy access in low light. To avoid damaging the zipper, fully unzip it when entering or exiting the hammock.

Suspension system

The hammock uses the RingLock suspension system, which uses two steel rings clamping the rope between them. The knot used is called a “Garda knot.” This self-tightening knot is also used by climbers. It is easy to tie, easy to untie without load, and impossible to untie if someone is lying in the hammock. The 40 mm strap protects tree bark. The 6 mm cord is comfortable for knot tying. The RingLock suspension system is unbreakable and weighs only 60 grams. The cord was upgraded from 5 mm (560 kg) to 6 mm (780 kg).

To stay warm in the hammock, use an underquilt or insulating pad. Suitable options: regular sleeping pad, inflatable mattress, thin foil-insulated foam, underquilt, blanket.

Hanging pockets

This hammock may include two storage pockets. The first is a small internal hanging pocket, located inside the hammock — ideal for keeping essentials like a headlamp, phone, or earplugs within reach during the night. The second is a large external hanging gear shelf located underneath the hammock — perfect for bulky but lightweight items like clothes or an empty backpack. This large gear shelf also transforms into a backpack rain cover. It detaches via LineLock hardware and features an elastic hem to secure it snugly around your backpack.
